Renowned for its artisanal burgers, DOWNTOWNER, located in Itaewon's Hannam-dong as its first branch, has been a beloved restaurant among many for an extended period. Each branch of DOWNTOWNER features a unique interior design tailored to the locality's characteristics and on-site conditions. Newly unveiled in Jeju Island, the restaurant adopts a distinctive design that encapsulates the island's essence.
Situated in a standalone building facing a palm tree-lined beachfront, the design incorporates the locally abundant and distinctive stone called "Horse Hair Stone" (Hopiseok) as the primary material, infusing the establishment with Jeju's historical context and narrative. Embracing the easily accessible Horse Hair Stone, commonly used for building homes in the rugged and impoverished past of Jeju Island, the design aims to embody the island's rustic and natural charm.
Reinterpreting the discarded "Bottjip," a material derived from farming tools and utensils predominantly used by Jeju locals in the past, the interior chairs are created with a modern aesthetic, drawing inspiration from this historical background. Within this modest and unassuming space, touches of the brand's blue color are subtly integrated, blending DOWNTOWNER's unique identity into the ambiance.
