WOKTIONARY
In the trendy neighborhood of Apgujeong-dong in Gangnam, Seoul, a restaurant evoking the essence of Chinese streets has opened its doors. Introduced by GFFG, a pioneer in South Korea's dining culture, WOKTIONARY is an American-Chinese restaurant offering exotic menus uncommonly found in Korea.
Amidst the stylish and vibrant atmosphere of Gangnam's soaring spaces, the restaurant's facade stands out as both innovative and novel, compelling attention from all passersby. Inspired by the concept of the traditional Chinese game "Mahjong," WOKTIONARY creatively incorporates Mahjong cubes in various sizes, freely applied both externally and internally throughout the building.
The facade design completes the surface with an array of diverse patterned bricks and utilizes metal shutters as a finishing material, ingeniously integrating them into window frames. Internally, the interior design contemporarily reinterprets the potentially old-fashioned and monotonous ambiance associated with Chinese culture. It elegantly revives Eastern opulent traditional patterns, harmonizing red and green colors, and rejuvenates antique wooden furniture with a modern flair.
